Net-0 Skyscraper Thesis Videos (2 of 2)

Dear Constant Reader,

For those of you that may not have yet Googled the other half of the 'Net-0 Skyscraper Thesis Videos' prior to this point, the following is the conclusion to our ongoing series.  This second part - which examines the means and methodologies of what it might require to take an entire skyscraper off the electric grid - seeks to explore what proactive measures can be taken now, using current technological means.  It explores the possibility of using passive energy systems, by which to offset a total array of buildings users.

However, the findings of this research is interesting, if not a bit surreal: unsurprisingly, it is not economically possible to take a contemporary skyscraper off the metropolitan grid, using only passive energy methodologies.  Even with backup systems, it was discovered we would need to devote almost 70% of space in a 'average sized' skyscraper by which to offset only a small portion of the buildings base.....and even then, only when the weather cooperates!  As well, the systems that 'could' potentially offset these systems (hydro, wind, solar), would still need to be cross examined for their economical, environmental, and carbon footprint: can a 900m2 array of solar panels ever pay for itself in a lifetime?  How much CO2 is created, when manufacturing a wind turbine?

.....these and other questions to be examined in the remainder of this Treatise.

But now on to the main video playlist!!!  (be sure to look back here soon, for even bigger publication news announcements soon!!):

Much thanks go out to Philip Plowright, Martin Swartz, Ed Orlowski, Steve Schneemann, and Ralph Nelson, all of Lawrence Technological University critics, who made for a cutting edge debaters in this wonderful advert!
